Having acne can be really daunting. It is a universal skin issue that haunts most people. And if you thought that it was only the teenagers grappling with this issue, think again! Adult acne too can be equally frustrating. You never know what could trigger it- it could be your diet, how you live, stress, hormones, or even your cleanser. So, how do you cope with it?
Well, go back to the basics and get your cleanser right. You could be doing 100 things for your skin but if your skin is not thoroughly cleansed, it would never show positive results.
Here we list out 4 cleansers perfect for 4 main types of acne. These cleansers can work magic on your skin!
Comedonal Acne- The root cause of this type of acne is clogged pores. If you have tiny bumps all over your skin, especially around the T-zone, then you may have Comedonal Acne. Well the good news is that this type of acne can be easily fixed! Use a cleanser that has salicylic or glycolic acid and wash your face at least twice a day.
The most severe form of acne, the Cystic acne leaves deep scars on the affected area. The trick here is to start treating it at the earliest. Chalk out a good skin care regimen for yourself and make it a point to follow it. Use an effective water soluble cleanser with benzoyl peroxide at least twice a day. Avoid using bar cleansers as they may only worsen the condition.
Acne caused due to hormonal conditions-
It usually occurs to women in their late 20s or 30s. A drop in estrogen levels can be counted as one of its triggers. Since it is caused due to hormonal changes, topical medication might not be all that effective. However, it is important to keep the skin clean. Use a cleanser rich in retinol or vitamin A. A cleanser with Vitamin C can also be used to heal the scars.
Inflammatory Acne- Red bumps, black heads, white heads are all common manifestations of this type of acne. It is one of the most common forms of acne and is mostly found on men due to higher testosterone levels leading to more oil production. Wash your face thrice a day with cleansers rich in Tea Tree oil or benzoyl peroxide.
