When it comes to overall skin care, feet are, probably, one of our most ignored body parts. They bear the brunt of your weight, and are yet not paid as much attention to as they deserve. To keep your feet healthy and beautiful looking, here goes a routine that you must follow on a regular basis to retain their delicateness:

1. Exfoliate

ExfoliateYour feet carry a lot of dead skin, and if not exfoliated regularly, can lead to cracked feet and hardness. To combat that, soak your feet in lukewarm water to soften them. Next, grab a pumice stone, and exfoliate the heels and toe area properly for a couple of minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water, and apply a gentle foot cream or moisturiser to keep the area soft and supple.

2. Massage regularly

Massage regularlyWe’re talking three times a week! Purchase a foot cream or oil that has essential nutrients for skin or softening ingredients like natural extracts, and massage your feet regularly for at least 10 minutes. This will not only alleviate any pain in your ankles from too much walking, but also take care of the cracks.

3. DIY Pedicure

Got no time for tedious salon visits? The pedicure can be done right in the comfort of your home! A basic pedicure routine is extremely simple. Every 10-15 days, soak your feet for 10 minutes in lukewarm water filled with mineral salts. Cleanse your toes gently with a foot file, and dry your feet with a soft towel. Next, trim your nails with a filer to give them a nice shape, and follow by applying a moisturiser. Complete the procedure by painting your nails, to give them a nice finishing touch.

– Wear comfortable shoes that don’t wreak havoc on your toes and ankles.

– Walk regularly to keep your foot muscles working.

– Wash your feet with a gentle soap every day.

– Keep a moisturiser handy if you’re spending the day wearing open-toe flats.

– Sleep with socks on. They keep the moisture in your feet intact, and prevent them from cracking.
